Switching Away from Spotify

With Spotify rightly being rejected by many now, I have some thoughts on switching to MP3 players for those who might not be sure.

First, you don't need to find an iPod necessarily, and even if you insist on finding an iPod, you don't need whatever turns up when you search "what is the best ipod?", any MP3 player you think looks cool is a good start. iPod prices will be climbing now, partly with the mass departure from Spotify and partly thanks to video producers like Dankpods. He's cool, but just because he says something is good doesn't mean it's worth more than when he first talked about it.

Prices will get artificially inflated when someone on YouTube talks about it, don't buy into this.

Creative and iRiver are solid options if you see one in your local classifieds or auction site. If you're set on wanting an iPod for any number of reasons (familiarity, good UX/UI, parts availability, etc.), then get one. A good starting point is to just get anything that works and is Windows compatible. Particularly though, if you want to get into modding but you're a bit hesitant, try to track down an iPod Mini. If you need video, get one of the later models that supports video :3

People across the internet will prattle on about "This is the best iPod" or "you should find an iPod with this DAC, it's so good!" but trust me, you won't need to care about that. Get something that has enough storage for you, works, and if you're not up for modding then there are people who sell modded ipods with battery upgrades for sensible prices :3 fluff knows I've done that before.

This all started because I wanted to do a macroblog but didn't want to deal with WordPress or similar. So we get an old school blog which is probably going to get rather messy over time, but we'll see how it goes :3
